Abdullah bin Zayed receives UN Deputy Secretary-General

 H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today received, Amina J. Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, in Abu Dhabi.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed various aspects of cooperation between the UAE and the UN and its affiliated agencies and programmes, with a particular focus on humanitarian and development issues.

The UAE Top Diplomat affirmed the enduring partnership between the UAE and the UN, highlighting their shared commitment to promoting sustainable development and achieving prosperity for all peoples of the world.

The two sides also discussed the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, with Sheikh Abdullah reiterating the UAE's belief in the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in resolving conflicts and promoting regional and international peace and security.

The meeting also addressed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, wherein Sheikh Abdullah stressed the need to intensify regional and international efforts to end the cycle of violence and ensure the safe, sustainable and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, and Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs.
