UAE Ambassador Meets Prime Minister of Somalia

His Excellency Ahmad Juma Al Rumaithi, UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Somalia, met with His Excellency Hamza Abdi Barre, Prime Minister of Somalia, at the government’s headquarters in the capital, Mogadishu.
During the meeting, His Excellency Al Rumaithi affirmed the close bilateral ties between the two countries across various fields, and emphasized the UAE’s keenness to enhance prospects of cooperation, and strengthen relations to achieve the aspirations of the two countries and their peoples.
HE Al Rumaithi highlighted that based on the strong bilateral ties and the UAE’s steadfast principles of providing aid to nations in need, the country is providing humanitarian and relief supplies to the areas impacted by recent floods in Somalia. The UAE is also in the process of dispatching a further shipment of supplies to be delivered and distributed in the affected areas, in coordination with the relevant entities in the government of Somalia and the Somali Disaster Management Agency.
Furthermore, HE Al Rumaithi affirmed the UAE’s support for Somalia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence, and highlighted the need for collaborative efforts to promote security in the Horn of Africa, as well as for dialogue and diplomacy. HE also emphasized the importance of exploring ways to coordinate with IGAD and the African Union to ensure stability in the region.
For his part, HE Prime Minister Barre commended the strong and deep-rooted bilateral ties, and constructive cooperation across multiple levels and fields. His Excellency also extended his gratitude to the UAE for all its endeavors in supporting Somalia.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the established relations between the two countries, ways to enhance and build upon them, and other areas of common interest.
