
H.E. Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy
Minister of state for international cooperation
Her Excellency Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy has been serving as the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation since February 2016. In addition to this role, she oversees the Political Affairs Office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, a position she has held since her appointment as Minister of State in February 2008.
H.E. Al Hashimy led the UAE’s successful bid to host Expo 2020 Dubai, achieving a historic milestone by bringing the first World Expo to the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region. She previously served as Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai and currently serves as CEO of the Expo City Dubai Authority, a government entity responsible for overseeing the development of Expo City Dubai as a lasting legacy of the global event.
She chairs the UAE National Committee on Sustainable Development Goals, which promotes the implementation of the SDGs within the country and aligns them with the UAE’s national development priorities. She also chairs the Board of Directors of Dubai Cares, a philanthropic organization committed to improving access to education in developing countries, and the Board of Trustees of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.
Before her appointment as Minister of State, H.E. Al Hashimy served as Chairperson of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, which works to enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness through improved statistics and data-driven policymaking. Earlier in her career, she served as Commercial Attaché and subsequently as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Washington, D.C.
H.E. Al Hashimy holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and French from Tufts University, a Master's degree in Arts from Harvard University, and a Doctorate from Tsinghua University in China.
