UAE establishes official diplomatic relations with Democratic Republic of Congo.
The United Arab Emirates and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have signed an agreement to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries as of November 1st, 2017.
The agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Leonard She Okitundu, the republic's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The agreement underlined the desire of both countries' governments to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between their peoples, based on the principles and objectives of the United Nations Charter, international laws and treaties pertaining to the promotion of global peace and security, values of equality and respect, national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.
The move will see the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level between the UAE and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations from the date of the signing of the joint contract.
