Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Head of the UAE delegation to the 28th African Union Summit, has met Alpha Barry, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Burkina Faso, on the sidelines of the summit being held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed ways to strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries, especially in the economic and trade sectors, in addition to Burkina Faso’s pans to participate in Dubai 2020 Expo.
They also discussed the latest developments in Sahel region. Barry briefed Al Hashemi on the efforts of the region to combat terrorism, including setting up of a joint force to fight terrorism, which was recently announced by Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
Among others present were Yacoub Yousef Al Hosani, Assistant of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, for International Organisations Affairs, and Ghazi Abdullah Salem bin Ashour Al Mahri, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the African Union.
