Scholarship Overview
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) provides a scholarship program for outstanding Emirati students who wish to pursue their academic journey abroad at one of the world's top prestigious international universities, with the aim of specializing in fields that meet the needs of the UAE diplomatic corps, and enriching it with qualified Emirati personnel and a generation trained to the highest standards.

First: Scholarship Program eligibility and conditions of acceptance
- Must be UAE nationals (holders of UAE passports and family book).
- Must provide a certificate of Good Conduct and Behavior from the relevant official authorities in the UAE.
- Must be between 17 and 22 years old and have legal guardian approval.

- Applicants must have an IELTS (Academic Module) score of 6.5 or above, or equivalent.

Applicants must hold an acceptance letter from an approved university
(
universities listed here and approved by MoFA
).
- Applicants must agree to study a third language, if required.
- Male applicants must provide a certificate of exemption or completion of national service.
- Applicants must agree to join the UAE diplomatic corps at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a period equivalent to the number of academic years covered by the scholarship.
- Applicants must agree to join Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) upon graduation.
- Applicants must provide parental consent to join the scholarship program.

The admission procedure will include a number of tests, interviews, and additional conditions.

Second: Required Documents
- Valid passport copy (including the last page showing the unified number).
- Family Book copy.
- Emirates ID copy (both sides).
- Birth certificate copy.
- Colored personal photograph.

Transcripts copy for grades Ten, Eleven, and the first term of grade Twelve
(first or last term if available), attested by relevant entities as applicable.

Direct academic acceptance, unconditional to other requirements, in a specific
specialty, institution, and country for the MoFA scholarship, indicating the
program start and end dates and the total cost.

Medical examination certificate (the medical examination form is available in
the application and can be certified by any government hospital or medical center
within the UAE).
- National service status certificate for male students.

A certificate from a local bank under the student’s name indicating the
International Bank Account Number (IBAN), after obtaining final approval
(*if the applicant is accepted*).

Parental approval for students under 22 years of age (according to the Personal
Affairs Law).
- Curriculum Vitae (CV).

English language certificates with scores for one of the tests mentioned in the
“First paragraph above”

- University admission letter.
- Certificate of Good Conduct and Behavior.

Student’s Journey
Third: Student’s journey to the diplomatic corps following admission

First Stage:
Scholarship to study abroad for a Bachelor’s degree.

Second Stage:
Enrollment in AGDA’s Post-Graduate Diploma in UAE Diplomacy and International Relations program.

Final Stage:
Joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and being appointed to the diplomatic corps after fulfilling graduation requirements.

- Is completion or exemption from National Service required to apply?
Yes, completion of or exemption from National Service is a requirement for applying to the program.
- Can I choose a university outside the approved list?
No, applicants must secure admission from universities approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs only.
- Can I amend my application after submission?
Yes. Applicants may contact the call center at +971 80044444 to request amendments. The request will be referred to the MoFA Scholarship Program team, and the existing application will be removed from the system to allow submission of a new, updated application.
- Are high school graduates from previous years eligible to apply?
Yes, graduates from previous years may apply, provided the applicant is between 17 and 22 years old at the time of application.
- What is the required English proficiency score (IELTS / TOEFL)?
Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 6.5 in Academic IELTS or an equivalent score in TOEFL.
- How can I track my application status, and when will I be notified of the result?
Applicants can track their application through program notifications. Updates, including final admission results, will be communicated via email or SMS.
- What is the expected timeframe for receiving the final admission decision?
The review and final approval process typically take between 3 to 5 months. Applicants will be notified of any updates via email or SMS.
- Does the program cover all tuition costs?
Yes, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs covers all tuition costs in accordance with the program’s policies.
- What happens if I want to change my major or country of study?
Students must inform the relevant program officer at the Ministry and notify the cultural attaché in the country of study. Requests will be reviewed in line with the program’s regulations and policies.
- Is the interview a mandatory requirement for admission?
Yes, the interview is a mandatory part of the admission process, and applicants must successfully pass it to complete the scholarship requirements.
