During the meeting held at the headquarters of the Presidential Court, His Excellency Dr. Gargash was briefed on the work achieved by the taskforce formed by the Committee, including the submission of periodic reports for the UAE, as part of the state’s obligations as signatories to the Arab Charter on Human Rights, in addition to several international agreements.

His Excellency was also briefed on the technical cooperation between the UAE and UN bodies and mechanisms in the field of human rights. In this context, H.E. Dr. Gargash stressed the UAE’s commitment to enhancing its partnership with United Nations human rights bodies, mechanisms, and UN committees on human rights, including the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the special procedures of the Human Rights Council, as well as treaty bodies.

The Committee is focused on developing policies, programs, and plans to raise awareness and build capacity in the human rights field. Furthermore, it strengthens collaborations with regional organizations and UN human rights bodies and committees, and oversees the submission of periodic reports for the UAE within the framework of relevant regional and international human rights organizations, including the national report for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).
