The UAE and Malaysia hold first Joint Committee meeting in Abu Dhabi

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has hosted the first round of the UAE-Malaysia Joint Committee in Abu Dhabi. The meeting, which was co-chaired by His Excellency Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of State, and His Excellency Mohamad Bin Alamin, Deputy Foreign Minister of Malaysia, with the participation of officials from both countries, discussed ways to enhance and reinforce bilateral economic partnerships in the fields of economy, tourism, entrepreneurship, SMEs, fintech, innovation, transportation, renewable energy, logistics, agriculture, food security, environment and infrastructure.

During the meeting, His Excellency Al Sayegh commended the strong ties and fruitful cooperation in various sectors of common interest between the UAE and Malaysia. His Excellency also highlighted the continuous growth in the economic partnership and the steadfast support in strengthening ties from the leadership of the two countries.

In his opening remarks, His Excellency Al Sayegh stated: "The commencement of the first session of the UAE-Malaysia Joint Committee reflects our mutual commitment to deepen current economic relations and extend them to incorporate additional areas of mutual interest. These initiatives are in line with the UAE’s approach and the aspirations of its wise leadership to enhance bilateral cooperation with partners from various countries of the world.”

The joint committee witnessed deliberations on innovative strategies to enhance bilateral trade and strengthen the contribution of the Emirati and Malaysian private sectors in expanding cooperation and exploring new horizons between the two sides.

Furthermore, the committee discussed ways to achieve sustainable economic development, and discover opportunities for both nations to realize their common vision of partnership and mutual prosperity.

During his speech, Deputy Foreign Minister of Malaysia, H.E. Bin Alamin conveyed Malaysia's keenness to reinforce economic partnerships and enhance cooperation with the UAE.

The session concluded with the official signing of the draft minutes of the joint committee, and an agreement to hold the second session of the committee in Malaysia, with continued close coordination between the two sides in priority sectors.
