
The Iftar featured Emirati and Islamic arts and was organized to celebrate tolerance, diversity and respect.
Attendees enjoyed a live art show by a calligrapher and music from an oud player.
During the Iftar event, the refurbished Emirates Society was reintroduced, offering residents of the UK and the UAE, from diverse backgrounds, the opportunity to appreciate the culture and history of the UAE.
British politicians also attended the event, including David Jones MP, who delivered a speech in his capacity as the outgoing Chairman of the Emirates Society.
Speeches were also presented by HE Ambassador Abulhoul, who emphasized the importance of tolerance in society and affirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting inter-faith dialogue.
The event was co-hosted by the Naz Legacy Foundation, an organization dedicated to the advancement of educational achievements among minority communities in the UK and advocating for the importance of integration into British society.
Imran Sanaullah MBE, a trustee of the Foundation, highlighted the importance of these events to consolidate inter-faith and inter-cultural understanding and dialogue.
HE Mansoor Abulhoul, UAE Ambassador to the UK, said:
“The inter-faith Iftar was organized to embody the values that have formed the UAE’s community; tolerance, respect and cultural exchange.
The renovated Emirates Society will serve as a platform for UK and UAE residents, from diverse backgrounds, to appreciate the culture and history of the UAE, and reinforce ties between our countries.”
Imran Sanaullah MBE, Trustee of the Naz Legacy Foundation, said:
"It is an honour for the Naz Legacy Foundation to work with the UAE Embassy in the UK on this inter-faith Iftar during the sacred month of Ramadan.
“Interfaith work and collaboration have been tested over the last year. This event is an opportunity as leaders from the UK and UAE to reaffirm our commitment to interfaith and interreligious work to create more tolerance, understanding and respect between all communities.”
David Jones MP, outgoing Chairman of the Emirates Society, said:
“It is both a pleasure and a huge privilege to attend this Iftar with so many friends and colleagues of different faiths.
The UAE has a proud history of advancing religious tolerance and mutual respect throughout the Middle East and the wider world.”
