The United Arab Emirates has inaugurated 10 maternity centers in seven provinces in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, as part of the UAE’s Comprehensive Development Program in the country, which aims to enhance basic infrastructure across various development sectors, particularly healthcare.

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian and developmental efforts as part of its foreign aid policy, through projects and development programs in various countries, which are implemented and overseen by the UAE Coordination Office  for Humanitarian Aid in Afghanistan.

Her Excellency Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, emphasized that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, continues its humanitarian, charitable, and developmental efforts in Afghanistan. The 10 maternity centers were officially opened across the seven provinces in Afghanistan on Monday, December 2nd. Two centers were established in each of the Herat, Kandahar, and Paktia provinces, while additional centers were opened in  Jalalabad, Helmand, Paktika, and Mazar-i-Sharif.
