Noura Al Kaabi Participates in Follow-up meeting to the Conference for the Civilian Population in Gaza
Chaired by the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, the meeting brought together representatives from over 50 countries, the European Union, the African Union, the GCC, the Arab League, the United Nations, as well as from the Palestine Red Crescent Society, and other NGOs.
In the meeting, HE Noura Al Kaabi reaffirmed that the UAE is working tirelessly with international partners to bring an end to the hostilities in Gaza. Following the outbreak of the crisis, the UAE has embarked on multiple humanitarian endeavors simultaneously to provide relief aid and assistance to the people of Gaza.
These efforts include the “Gallant Knight 3” humanitarian operation, where the UAE dispatched 111 planes carrying more than 2,000 tons of food, medical and relief supplies in coordination with international organizations. The UAE has also established a highly-equipped integrated field hospital inside the Gaza Strip with a 150-bed capacity. Furthermore, 9,000 tonnes of food aid have been purchased from the Egyptian market valued at USD 30 million, in addition to 23 trucks – carrying 600 tonnes of aid - out of a total of 50 trucks that have entered Gaza so far.
Additionally, the UAE has also launched a nation-wide “Tarahum - for Gaza” campaign in an effort to mitigate the humanitarian crisis for the Palestinian people affected by the conflict. The UAE will also provide medical treatment for 1,000 Palestinian children accompanied by their families in UAE hospitals, in addition to 1,000 cancer patients and ensure their recovery prior to their safe return.
Furthermore, HE Noura Al Kaabi confirmed during the meeting the urgent need to secure humanitarian corridors and ensure the immediate, safe, sustainable, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian, relief and medical aid to the Palestinians. She said: “The UAE calls on the international community to make every effort possible to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and to prevent the region from being dragged into new unprecedented levels of violence and instability”.
