The Permanent Committee for Human Rights explores strengthening cooperation with the National Human Rights Committee in the Kingdom of Bahrain

His Excellency Khalifa Shaheen Almarar, Minister of State, held the meeting with the Bahraini delegation at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In his opening statement to the respective committees, Excellency Saeed Rashed Al-Hebsi, Director of Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and member of the Permanent Committee for Human Rights, welcomed His Excellency Dr. Yusuf Abdulkarim Bucheeri, the Director-General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Bahraini Foreign Affairs Ministry, and reviewed bilateral ties and the distinguished historic and fraternal relations that bind the two nations.
From his side, HE Bucheeri reaffirmed the distinct close historic and fraternal partnership between the UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of enhancing cooperation, exchanging information and expertise, best practices related to national plans for human rights, as well as the pursuit of international agreements in relation to human rights. The two sides expressed their aspirations to strengthen cooperation that would contribute to respecting, protecting and fulfilling human rights.
Notably, the Permanent Committee for Human Rights was established according to a cabinet resolution issued in late 2019, headed by His Excellency Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President. The committee is regarded as a link of connection between all human rights entities and institutions in the UAE.
The National Committee for Human Rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain was established in 2023, according to a cabinet resolution. The committee specializes in all issues related to human rights in the Kingdom, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
