Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), separately received, today at the FNC's headquarters in Abu Dhabi, Zhang Yiming, Ambassador of China to the UAE, Jiří Slavík, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the UAE, and Odonbaatar Shijeekhuu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the UAE.
During the meetings, all sides discussed their overall bilateral cooperation, most notably the parliamentary ties between the FNC and the parliaments of the three countries, and stressed the importance of exchanging visits and parliamentary expertise.
They also discussed regional and international developments, most notably in the Middle East.
Ghobash highlighted the importance of promoting parliamentary action to support the role of parliamentary institutions in conducting diplomacy, stressing that the UAE is a model to be followed of tolerance and coexistence.
He then affirmed the country's belief that peace is a strategic option and the cornerstone of its foreign policy. He affirmed that the FNC is a legislative institution keen to help shape a safer future through the work of parliamentarians, and noted the importance of parliamentary friendship committees.
Ghobash welcomed Zhang and wished him success in his duties as his country’s Ambassador to the UAE.
