The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has enlarged the scope of its winter aid campaign to assist people suffering in Estonia, by providing aid to 15,000 families, both locals and refugees.

The ERC delegation in Estonia, led by Hamoud Abdullah Al Junaibi, Deputy Secretary-General for Marketing and Resource Development Affairs, supervised the distribution of large quantities of relief aid, which included heating supplies, blankets, winter clothes, food and children's necessities.

The delegation also met with relevant authorities in Estonia, to coordinate the distribution of aid and reach out to most people affected by the effects of winter.

The ERC delegation met with Signe Riisalo, Estonia's Minister of Social Protection, in the presence of representatives of the UAE Embassy, Harri Viik, President of the Estonian Red Cross, and officials from the Estonian ministries of foreign affairs and social affairs.

Riisalo lauded the UAE’s initiatives and leadership in humanitarian and developmental areas and noted that it has always organised programmes in Estonia that benefit large segments of the population. She also expressed her appreciation of the ERC’s efforts to support people affected by the harsh climate.

The ERC delegation also met with Betina Beškina, Deputy Mayor of the Estonian capital, Tallinn, to review the humanitarian conditions of those affected in the city and surrounding areas. Beškina participated in distributing aid with the ERC delegation in several neighbourhoods of Tallinn.

Al Junaibi highlighted the ERC’s ongoing humanitarian and relief efforts to ease human suffering and improve the conditions of affected people. He added that the aid distribution plan underscores ERC's keenness to enlarge the scope of beneficiaries of its campaign.
