UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Marks Flag Day

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) today marked UAE Flag Day, wherein His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, hoisted the UAE flag on the main mast of the Ministry’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, His Excellency Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister for International Development Affairs, His Excellency Yaqoub Al Hosani, Assistant Minister for International Organizations Affairs, His Excellency Omran Anwar Sharaf, Assistant Minister for Advanced Sciences and Technology Affairs, His Excellency Saeed Mubarak Al Hajri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Commercial Affairs, and His Excellency Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to the Minister of State, and His Excellency Sheikh Tahnoon bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the Minister of State. The ceremony was also attended the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Assistant Undersecretaries and a number of the Ministry's diplomats and employees.

On behalf of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout extended his congratulations to the UAE leadership, saying: "Today, we express our feelings of pride and loyalty to the UAE. On this occasion, we renew our pledge to the UAE and its leadership. We hoist the flag high in the UAE skies and in all UAE missions around the world to commemorate our nation’s achievements and symbolize our future ambitions reach new heights.”

UAE embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions worldwide also marked the day by raising the UAE flag at 11am, according to the local time of the host country, in the presence of members of UAE missions from both diplomatic and consular corps. The ceremonies were held to celebrate national pride and loyalty, underscoring the shared determination to serve the UAE and support its continued development. 

The UAE marks Flag Day annually. 

On 3 November 2013, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, launched a national campaign to celebrate Flag Day, calling on all institutions, ministries, and authorities to raise the UAE flag as an expression of appreciation for the UAE, its unity, and national belonging.
