Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, received Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Industry, along with an Emirati delegation currently visiting the Uzbek capital, Tashkent.
The visit aims to discuss how to strengthen bilateral relations between the UAE and Uzbekistan, as well as their cooperation in the areas of commerce, investment, tourism, energy, transport and agriculture.
During the meeting, Al Mazrouei conveyed the greetings of the UAE’s leadership, headed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to President Mirziyoyev, while highlighting the UAE’s keenness to improve their overall cooperation and achieve their common interests.
Mirziyoyev welcomed Al Mazrouei and the Emirati delegation, and conveyed his greetings to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, as well as his wishes for further advancement to the UAE’s leadership and people.
He also said he hoped that the delegation’s visit will succeed, while praising relations between the two countries and their overall cooperation. He then noted his recent visit to the UAE, which resulted in the signing of several agreements and Memorandums of Understanding. Mirziyoyev thanked the Emirati delegation for the warm hospitality he received in the UAE.
Al Mazrouei praised Uzbekistan’s decision to exempt UAE citizens carrying diplomatic, special and regular passports from requiring pre-entry visas to visit the country, which reflects the UAE’s international stature and confirms their expanding bilateral relations.
The value of non-oil commercial trade between the two countries reached some US$387 million in 2017.
