The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has distributed over eight tonnes of dates and 40,000 food parcels to needy families, in cooperation with the UAE Embassy in Cairo, under the framework of its Ramadan iftar project in Egyptian villages, which is part of its initiatives for the Holy Month of Ramadan and the Year of Zayed.
The project aims to ease the financial burdens on needy families and make them happy during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The foundation was established on July 2007, and its vision is to launch leading initiatives to serve humanity while its strategy focusses on local, regional and international health and education sectors. Its education strategy involves supporting vocational education in the region. It also aims to solve health issues related to malnutrition and to promote child protection, as well as provide safe drinking water around the world and assist poor communities by constructing basic infrastructure, such as schools and hospitals.
To implement its strategy, the foundation has created partnerships with international organisations, including the United Nations and non-profit organisations, and its assistance has reached over 87 countries since its establishment.
