​H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed attends MOFAIC National Day celebrations, honours retired diplomats.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, attended on Thursday, a ceremony marking the UAE's 47th National Day.

The event, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, was held under the slogan, 'Zayed and the World'.

Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State, along with a number of Ambassadors and diplomats accredited to the country, were also present during the National Day ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE National Day celebration is an invitation to continue the nation's march of development, and acknowledge the great accomplishments the young country has achieved, as a result of the leadership's visionary strategies, and the nation's sons and daughters efforts towards attaining global excellence.

During the event, Dr. Anwar Gargash, conveyed his congratulations to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Their Highnesses, Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and the Government and people of the UAE on the occasion of the 47th National Day.

The UAE celebrated its 47th National Day, the day of the Union, which, thanks to the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the determination of the Emirati people, has been firmly established in the history of the region, the Minister said.

He stressed that the Union's founding is based on solid foundations, providing its citizens and residents the highest standards of living, in a safe and secure environment, with continued opportunities for sustainable development arising on its path towards an even more promising future.

The ceremony also saw a high-level dialogue session with participants including H.H. Sheikh Suroor bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, and Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State, who spoke about the Founding Father's legacy, values and policies that helped shape the foundations of the UAE's foreign policy.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed also honoured a group of retired diplomats, who contributed strongly to advancing UAE diplomacy and enhancing the country's position in regional and global arenas.
