UAE pledges US$200,000 annual contribution to UNHCR.

The United Arab Emirates has announced that it will contribute US$200,000 annually to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN refugee agency, starting from the next budget year, towards the agency's refugee assistance programs.

The announcement was made by Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, UAE Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva during a statement he made today before the UNHCR annual donor meeting in Geneva.

Al Zaabi expressed UAE's appreciation to the efforts made by the agency to provide protection and assistance to millions of refugees around the world. He reiterated UAE's commitment to its longstanding partnership with the UNHCR and its full support to the agency's programs.
