Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, participated in a closed consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers, held today at the headquarters of the League of Arab States, in the presence of Arab League's Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit.
The consultative meeting aimed at discussing certain items referred to it by the permanent representatives of the Council of the League of Arab States, which have not been agreed upon by their ambassadors.
These items included the development of the League of Arab States, new items added by certain Arab countries related to the appointment of a new Deputy Secretary-General, and discussions on developments in the crises facing the region, as well as the joint Arab action with the international community to block Israel's attempt to obtain membership to the Security Council, and the adoption of a plan to counter Israel’s penetration in the African continent, with the aim of securing the votes of African countries in the United Nations.
