Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, received on Saturday President Mauricio Macri of Argentina at Zabeel Palace.

While welcoming the President of Argentina and his accompanying delegation, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid stressed that such mutual visits between officials of the UAE and Argentine open new horizons to strengthen friendly relations and co-operation between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and Macri exchanged views on a number of issues that contribute to advancing co-operation between the two countries.

President Macri referred to the visit of the UAE Vice President to Buenos Aires in 2013, describing it as a historic visit that established tourism, commercial, and investment partnership between the two countries.

He also praised the recent successful visit of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to Argentina. He added that the visit has strengthened communication and exchange of views on many topics and issues of common concern.

The President of Argentina expressed hope that the direct air route of Emirates Airlines to the Argentine capital would promote cultural, tourism and trade ties between the people of the two countries. He referred to the UAE's strategic location as a centre of convergence between the east and the west, and a platform for various cultures and civilisations of the world.

President Macri also confirmed his country's participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, praising the high level of infrastructure in the UAE in general, and Dubai in particular.
