UAE Ambassador to Australia Dr. Obaid Al Hairi Salem Al Ketbi and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull have met to discuss bilateral relations and issues of shared concern, with a focus on combating terrorism and violent extremism, food security, innovation and renewable energy.
Turnbull's recent visit to the UAE, which he described as fruitful, was also discussed at the meeting. Turnbull expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for the warm reception and hospitality accorded to him during the visit.
Turnbull further hailed H.H. Sheikh Mohamed's keen interest in deepening relations with Australia in all spheres.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Australian government's 2017-2018 budget discussions.
