
The UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, participated in the meeting of the foreign ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) of major industrialised nations held in Lucca, Italy, on Tuesday.
The meeting brought together 12 foreign ministers, along with Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, to discuss the latest developments in Syria and the use of internationally banned chemical weapons in Khan Sheikhoun last week by the Syrian regime. The ministers also tackled ways to advance the political track and reach a ceasefire through the Astana intra-Syrian peace talks.
The meeting also stressed the need to continue the flow of humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people.
Fares Mohammed Al Mazrouei, the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Security and Military Affairs, attended the meeting.
