The Federal National Council (FNC) delegation, during its official visit to the United Kingdom (UK), has discussed with the UAE-British Business Council ways to enhance co-operation between the two countries in the areas of investment, trade and economy, with an emphasis on the role of parliamentary institutions.
Led by Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of FNC, the delegation included Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Zaabi, Second Deputy Speaker of the FNC, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Mahrazi, Dr. Saeed Abdullah Al Mutawa, Azza Suleiman bin Suleiman, Saeed Saleh Al Rumaithi, Hamad bin Ghulaita Al Ghafli, and Sulaiman Hamid Almazroui, UAE Ambassador to the UK.
Dr. Al Qubaisi stressed the importance of mutual visits between the officials of the two countries, while noting that relations between the two countries would open up broad prospects for companies and institutions of the UAE to enhance co-operation, and implement economic and investment projects in the UK.
She also referred to the British investments in the UAE, and their contribution in the fields of technology, research and development, as well as in building a knowledge-based economy, which is compatible with the vision, strategies and plans of the UAE.
The FNC Speaker underlined that the UAE provides competitive investment environment for qualitative and sophisticated businesses at the regional and international levels. They also discussed the participation of the UK in Expo 2020 Dubai.
Dr. Al Qubaisi further emphasised the UAE's position as an economic powerhouse.
The members of the UAE-British Business Council praised the active role of the UAE’s investments in Britain. They stated that the volume of the UAE’s investments in Britain have increased steadily in the recent years, surpassing the traditional investment in real estate and stock to significant investments in infrastructure and energy sectors.
The two parties further highlighted the importance of co-operation and co-ordination in the political, parliamentary, economic, social, cultural fields, as well as in the areas of energy, sustainability and preservation of the environment and water resources.
The meeting also touched on the UAE's values ??of tolerance; coexistence; happiness; philanthropy; volunteerism; youth and woman empowerment; as well as the policy of economic diversification, innovation and excellence in the fields of space and climate change.
Dr. Al Qubaisi hailed the role of the council in creating growth opportunities in the areas of trade and investment between the two countries, and building long-term strategic relationship between the UAE and the UK.
She referred to major development projects being implemented by the UAE in the areas of private infrastructure, education, health, energy, industry, finance and business, airports and other areas.
