A delegation from the UAE’s Federal National Council, FNC, led by Speaker Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, has met with Lord Fowler, the Speaker of Britain's House of Lords, to discuss ways to promote parliamentary co-operation, consultation and co-ordination in issues of mutual concern for the two countries.
The talks came as part of a shared interest in establishing regional and global peace and security and boosting sustainable efforts, supporting the youth, addressing environmental and climate issues, countering terrorism and extremism, promoting the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states, and resolving conflicts through peaceful means.
The two countries are interested in expanding relations in various spheres. The FNC delegation visit will contribute towards enhancing parliamentary relations between the two countries, the Lord Speaker noted.
The UAE leadership has always prioritised human development and developed an educational system that can keep pace with modern day developments and meet the demands of the knowledge-based society, Al Qubaisi stressed.
Highlighting the strategic relations between the UAE and Britain, Al Qubaisi emphasised that the UAE was among Britain's most important trade, economic and investment partners in the Arab region.
