The Sixth Joint UAE-UK Consular Committee meeting was held on Wednesday at the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MoFAIC, in Abu Dhabi.
Ahmed Saeed Elham Al Dhaheri, Assistant Under-Secretary of MoFAIC for Consular Affairs, headed the UAE side while Julia Longbottom, Director for Consular Affairs in the United Kingdom’s (UK’s) Foreign and Commonwealth Office, led the other side. Several representatives from ministries of both countries were also present at the meeting.
The meeting discussed a number of joint consular issues and ways of exchanging experiences and expertise in consular services space, with a view to boosting co-operation between the two countries.
Al Dhaheri said that the UAE ministry is keen to take care of its citizens abroad and noted that the meeting aimed to strengthen co-operation in the best interest of the citizens of both countries, as well as in line with the objectives of MoFAIC.
"The participation of a number of ministries and competent agencies from the UAE and the UK contributed effectively to the consular dialogue between the two countries," he added.
The UAE official underlined that all parties would co-operate to implement the resolutions in a manner that would help provide better consular services to the citizens of both countries.
