His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid visits ‘Protectors of The Nation’ exhibition.

The Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has stated that the sacrifices and accomplishments of the UAE Armed Forces are a source of pride for every Emirati.

"Since their creation, our Armed Forces have kept pace with global developments in training and preparation of personnel, who represent the main asset of any defence system. The development process also included the acquisition of the latest weapons to ensure our Armed Forces always hold an edge in the field.

"It is our duty to teach the current generation about the glorious history of our Armed Forces, not only to instil patriotism in them but also to make them aware of the history of the nation and the sacrifices made to safeguard its progress," His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed made the remarks during his visit to an exhibition titled "Protectors of the Nation: Sacrifice and Giving," held at the Etihad Museum in Dubai. He was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

The exhibition was organised by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Defence and the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed toured the exhibition, which traces the history of the UAE Armed Forces whose growth goes in parallel with the evolution of the UAE as a nation starting from the establishment of the Union on 2nd December, 1971.

The exhibition, which will run for six months, also highlights the diverse contributions of the UAE Armed Forces, under the guidance of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan the support of President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and the close follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed also watched a short movie on the development of the UAE Armed Forces and their participation in UN peacekeeping forces and humanitarian missions.

Also present during the visit were H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group; H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future; Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs; Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr; and Lt. General Mohammed Abdul Rahim Al Ali, Assistant Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Defence; in addition to a number of senior officials.
