UAE Ambassador to UN presents credentials as non-resident ambassador to Grenada.

Lana Nusseibeh, the UAE's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, has submitted her credentials as Non-Resident Ambassador to Grenada to the country’s Governor-General, Dame Cecile La Grenade, at her residence in the Grenadian capital, St. George’s.

Nusseibeh conveyed the greetings of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to the Governor-General, who replied by extending her wishes for the UAE’s continued prosperity to the UAE leadership and people. She also expressed the hope that there would be further growth in the already robust relations between the two nations.

During her visit to Grenada, Nusseibeh met with Dr. Keith Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada, and the country’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Elvin Nimrod. She commended the bilateral relationship between Grenada and the UAE, most recently signified in the signing of an Memorandum of Understanding on exemption of entry visa requirements between both nations on 20th November at the UAE Mission to the UN in New York. Mitchell and Nusseibeh also discussed the latest regional developments in the Arab world as well as the opportunities for further partnerships in the field of renewable energy and infrastructure development projects.

Nusseibeh also met with the Minister for Health, Nickolas Steele, to discuss the opportunities for cooperation in the health sector. During another meeting, with the Minister for Communications, Works, Physical Development, Public Utilities, ICT and Community Development, Gregory Bowen, Nusseibeh reviewed the current projects in Grenada supported by the UAE-Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund and agreed to mainstream a higher standard of climate resilience in all the ongoing projects. She also welcomed the forthcoming Grenadian Ministerial visit to the UAE in January 2018 for the IRENA General Assembly.

Nusseibeh also visited the newly reconstructed Grenadian parliament, accompanied by Permanent Secretary of Grenada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Alva Browne, and was briefed on the design and progress, which is being overseen by the UN Office for Project Services. The project is co-funded by the UAE.

"On behalf of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the UAE would like to congratulate the government and people of Grenada for this historic building," Nusseibeh told representatives of the Grenadian media.

"We are honoured to have played a small part in contributing to its reconstruction as a symbol of the Grenadian people's civic pride and political heritage. We look forward to ever-growing ties between our two peoples and governments as we both uphold the shared belief in the rights of all people to peace, prosperity and development," she said.
