H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, at the ministry’s General Diwan in Abu Dhabi yesterday.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah highlighted the wise leadership’s support to the FNC and its role in serving the people of the country and its development.

Al Qubaisi and Sheikh Abdullah discussed the means to develop the co-operation mechanisms between the official and parliamentary diplomacies, which would contribute towards supporting the goals of the country’s foreign policy and demonstrated the parliamentary strategy of the FNC for the years 2016–2021.

The Speaker also demonstrated the efforts being made by the FNC to strengthen parliamentary partnership and co-operation with various countries of the world.

Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the important role played by the FNC to strengthen the development of the country. He also noted the great responsibility of its members towards various matters pertaining to the nation, which was in line with the directives of the country’s wise leadership to provide the most sophisticated facilities for a dignified and comfortable life for the people.

He also stressed that the UAE had become a leading example in dedicated national parliamentary work, which had supported the country’s efforts towards achieving consecutive accomplishments in all fields.

Dr. Al Qubaisi praised the co-operation between the FNC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

She pointed out that the FNC’s Strategy for 2016–2021 was to support the foreign policy of the country, strengthen co-operation between the official and parliamentary diplomacies, and work as a team.

The Speaker of the FNC emphasised the importance of integrated efforts between the FNC and the government to achieve the nation’s ambitious developmental goals, which would promote welfare, prosperity and happiness for its citizens.

She also underlined the efforts being made by the FNC to continue its national role of contributing to a balanced development, which is being witnessed by the country through the unlimited support of its wise leadership and the participation of the citizens in the decision-making process, as well as in the exercise of its legislative, monitoring and political powers, and in its support of the foreign policy of the country.

This was made possible through the exceptional leading role of the parliamentary diplomacy and communication with the people and parliaments across the world, which embodied the prestigious international stature of the UAE and its leadership, which has adopted and raised the values of tolerance, coexistence and peace, and made constant efforts to achieve a safe, stable and prosperous future for the people of the region and the world.

She noted that the FNC’s parliamentary strategy was considered an example of wise, balanced parliamentary work, which offers the best to make the UAE’s people happy and supports the directions of the wise leadership to achieve the national interests and strengthen the country’s stature internationally.
