UAE concludes participation in the meetings of Indian Ocean Rim Association

The activities of the bi-annual meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association, IORA, has concluded in the city of Yogyakarta in Indonesia with the participation of the UAE.

The UAE has participated with an official delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, chaired by Fahad Obaid Al Taffaq, Director of Economic and International Cooperation at the Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, they discussed the report of the Second Ministerial Economic and Business Conference, EBC II, a flagship programme of the IORA, which was held in Dubai last month.

The meeting touched on a number of projects implemented by IORA in the areas of trade, investment, science, technology, tourism and maritime security, cultural exchange and the development of fisheries and climate change.

On the sidelines of the meetings, the Director of Economic Affairs and International Cooperation at the Foreign Ministry met with Ambassador K V Bhagirath, Secretary-General of IORA.

During the meeting, they discussed a number of topics of common interest and emphasised the importance of continuing efforts to promote economic and social situation of the coasts and islands in the Indian Ocean
