The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has added emergency numbers in overseas countries as part of the SMS services received by UAE citizens on their personal telephones upon arrival in countries they are travelling to.

The move follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to provide the best services to UAE citizens at home and abroad, and with the follow-up of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to ensure the provision of better consular services for citizens abroad, either through UAE missions abroad or representatives of the Foreign Ministry.

A text message will be received by travellers containing the contact details of the UAE Embassy in cases of emergency and emergency phone numbers in the country of residence.

The aim of the service, which the ministry began applying earlier this month, is to continuously communicate with citizens of the state while they are abroad to overcome difficulties or obstacles they may face while travelling.
