H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today called the new UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, and congratulated him on assuming his new post.
During the call, Sheikh Abdullah wished Antonio Guterres success in his new post and expressed the United Arab Emirates’ confidence that under his leadership, the UN would be capable of carrying out its mandate and of efficiently handling the crises and challenges facing the international community.
Sheikh Abdullah stressed the importance of strong partnership between the United Nations and the United Arab Emirates.
Antonio Guterres expressed his thanks to the UAE for the fruitful cooperation with the UN. He said he was looking forward to growing this cooperation during his tenure as the UN Secretary General.
