UAE Concludes Participations in the the Third Global Consular Forum in Seoul.
The United Arab Emirates, UAE, delegation at the third Global Consular Forum presented a working paper on ways to improve consular co-operations between states, global practices in consular services, as well as safe travel.
The paper sought to strengthen co-operation with the tourism, transportation, education and media sectors through increasing awareness, disseminating easy-to-access information in innovative ways, as well as enhancing a joint response to emergencies, crises and disasters, noted Assistant Under-Secretary for Consular Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Elham Al Dhaheri, who headed the delegation to the forum.
The UAE, which participated in the forum as a member of the executive committee of the forum, is at the forefront of automating a large part of its consular services including an e-verification system and a visa issuance programme, he further noted.
The forum opens new venues of co-operation between states on the best practices in consular services, response to challenges posed by the diversity of recipients of services, Al Dhaheri said.
During the forum, the participants held a brainstorming session on crisis management while the closing session included discussions on consular services.
The next meeting of the forum will be held in 2017 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
