FNC speaker meets President of Spanish Congress of Deputies

HE Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC) of the UAE, and Jesus Posada, President of the Congress of Deputies of Spain, have met to discuss matters of common concern and ways of promoting bilateral relations between their two countries.

The two sides underscored the importance of promoting cultural exchange, mutual investments and cooperation in the area of higher education.

They also stressed that the UAE and Spain maintain close relations and are coordinating on issues of mutual concern at regional and international circles to serve their mutual interests.

During the meeting attended by Dr. Hessa Al Otaiba, Ambassador of the UAE to Spain, Al Mur underscored the strong political relations and cooperation between the two countries, as well as importance of promoting these relations in various spheres including parliamentary affairs.

He hailed Spain's political, economic and social progress as well as the Kingdom's constitutional development and success in achieving smooth political transition and devolution of power to autonomous regions and preserving stability across the country.

Spain's political experience, Al Mur noted, should serve as a model for Arab and Middle Eastern countries hit by political developments and instability.

On his part, Posada underlined the strength of relations with the UAE which he said is welcome across the world thanks to its international reputation in the areas of peace, security and stability.
