H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, met with Frank Bainimarama, Fiji's Prime minister.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and joint cooperation in a number of industrial, economic, trade and tourism domains, as well as the issue of joint investment in the renewable energy field.
The parties also tackled the latest developments in the regional and international arenas, as well as a number of issues of mutual concern.
Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the UAE's keenness to enhance its investment, trade and economic ties with the Pacific Islands.
The two sides also tackled the growing development in the cooperation and friendship relations witnessed in the previous years and exchange of important visits, especially the Fijian Prime Minister's visit to the UAE in September 2012, during which the Fijian Embassy was opened. It was the first Fijian Embassy in the GCC region and North Africa.
On his part, Bainimarama brought to attention his country's keenness on enhancing ties with the UAE, since the UAE now enjoys an outstanding stature on the map of global economy, has attractive investment opportunities and economic potential in a number of sectors besides having the promise of mutual development.
Fiji's Prime Minister also underscored his country's desire to continue working with the UAE in various fields. At the end of the visit, Fijians organised a folkloric and traditional celebration in honour of Sheikh Abdullah.
