H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed participates in 137th session of GCC Ministerial Council in Riyadh.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, participated today in the 137th preparatory meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States (GCC), chaired by Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chair of the Current GCC Ministerial Council.

The meeting was also attended by other GCC Foreign Ministers and Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary-General of the GCC. It was held in preparation for the 36th GCC Supreme Council Summit, which will be held in December in Riyadh.

Opening the meeting, the Saudi foreign minister, on behalf of the Ministerial Council, extended thanks to Qatar for leading the Council during the previous session. He added that the meeting reviewed the issues submitted to it by the ministerial committees. These included the agenda of the Supreme Council in the next session regarding political, security, economic, cultural and other issues related with current situation, and joint efforts to achieve cooperation and cohesion.

Al Jubeir added that Saudi Arabia is honoured to host the next GCC Summit and hoped today's deliberations would help the GCC leaders during the summit to come up with resolutions that would address the critical situation and challenges facing the region.

Al Zayani thanked The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, for Saudi Arabia's hosting of the preparatory meeting for the next summit in Riyadh. He wished the GCC foreign ministers success in their diligent GCC joint action. Al Zayani appreciated the efforts of Qatar's foreign minister, chair of the previous session to support the joint GCC action.

He added that the meeting would shed light on the work of the specialised ministerial committees, which aims to strengthen integration and bonds among the GCC states in a way that meets endeavours of the GCC leaders.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed the latest regional and international political developments and their impact on the GCC states.

The meeting was also attended by Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and Mohammed Saeed Al Dhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
