Cuban First Vice President receives H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed.

The First Vice President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel received in Havana UAE Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his accompanying delegation.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah conveyed greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces to President Raul Castro and to the First Vice President of Cuba, and their wishes of further progress and prosperity to the people of Cuba.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah also stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral relations between the UAE and Cuba.

The Cuban First Vice President asked Sheikh Abdullah to pass on President Raul Castro's greetings and his greetings to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and re-affirmed his country's keenness to strengthen relations with the UAE.

The meeting touched on bilateral ties and ways to enhance them, particularly in the fields of energy, renewable energy, ports, infrastructure, medicine and medical research, agriculture and tourism. Also discussed were issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Badr Abdullah Al Matroushi, UAE Ambassador to Cuba.

The UAE and Cuba established diplomatic relations at the ambassadors level on 18th March 2002.
