Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dubai’s Supreme Legislation Committee organise workshop on int'l agreements

 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in co-ordination with Dubai’s Supreme Legislation Committee, recently organised workshop on concluding international treaties, conventions and memorandums of understanding for more than 80 legal experts from 36 departments of the government of Dubai.

The ministry said the workshop titled "Procedural Guideline for Concluding International Treaties, Conventions and Memorandums of Understanding" was organised to show its interest in enhancing cooperation and coordination with its partners on enforcing federal legislations and international agreements to meet the relevant international standards.

Topics covered by the workshop include the stages and procedures of concluding and joining international agreements based on resolutions issued by the country's cabinet.

Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs, Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Awadhi, attended the workshop and commended the "excellent" partnership between the ministry and legislation committee. He said the workshop is part of their experience exchange.

He also praised the committee for its efforts and called for expanding and elevating legal co-operation in various spheres to reflect the strategic partnership between federal and local institutions and enforce agreements in the best way that benefits the country as a whole.

For his part, Secretary-General of Dubai’s Supreme Legislation Committee, Ahmed bin Mis'har, commended the procedural guideline for being comprehensive, and said it will help the institutions follow sound procedures to conclude and join international treaties, conventions and memorandums of understanding.

He said the workshop represented a significant contribution towards understanding the process at local and federal institutions, providing full information, studies feedback to serve the country's plans through benefiting from the agreements.

He additionally praised legal co-operation and co-ordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for helping the committee play its role as a representative of the Government of Dubai and its affiliated departments in all matters related to federal legislations and international agreements.
