The Emirates Diplomatic Academy, EDA, today announced the appointment of Mayyasa Al Yammahi as its first Happiness Ambassador to mark the International Day of Happiness.

Al Yammahi currently holds the role of Communication Manager at EDA and is an existing Master’s programme student as well as an alumna of the Academy’s Postgraduate Diploma Programme in UAE Diplomacy and International Relations. In her new capacity, she will support the objectives of the UAE’s National Programme for Happiness and Positivity by developing and implementing a series of initiatives to increase employee engagement at the Academy.

Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Nawal Al Hosany, Deputy Director-General of EDA, said, "The UAE was the first country in the world to establish a Ministry of State for Happiness and has, in a short span of time, made significant strides in this emerging field that has captured the global imagination. EDA is dedicated to supporting our government’s mandate to enhance happiness and positivity in our community, as these crucial qualities have a long-term impact on productivity, efficiency and, ultimately, the success of our Academy."

Mayyasa Al Yammahi said, "I am honoured to be appointed to this important role. I believe that every workplace, whether it is a government entity or a private company, should have a Happiness Ambassador to promote the culture of happiness, positivity and cooperation amongst employees so that they can collectively achieve their goals. It is important to remember that personal success translates into organisational success and that in turn drives the progress towards a better future."

The UAE is the happiest country in the Arab world and ranks 20th on the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s World Happiness Report 2018. The government aims to position the UAE among the five happiest countries in the world by 2021.
