The Lebanese-UAE House was inaugurated in the Al Batroun area during the fourth session of the Lebanese Diaspora Energy Conference, in the presence of Gebran Bassil, Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Hamad Saeed Sultan Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Lebanon, and several other Lebanese ministers and members of parliament.
This follows the initiative of the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants to promote social, cultural, educational and commercial bonds between Lebanon and the world’s civilisations. It represents the desire of the Lebanese community in the UAE to strengthen communication with the nation.
The interior design of the Lebanese–UAE House combines influences of both the UAE's and Lebanon's cultural heritage, and will serve as the location for cultural exchange between both countries, in coordination with the UAE Embassy in Lebanon.
The house is part of the "Lebanese Expatriate House" Project underway in an old Petroni neighbourhood, close to a Phoenician wall in Al Batroun city and includes several ancient houses. The Al Batroun Municipality plans to restore this old locality within 20 years. The importance of this project lies in the participation of ten countries in the neighbourhood, including the UAE, Russia, the United States, Mexico and Brazil.
Hamad Al Shamsi expressed his enthusiasm at the inauguration, saying that such an initiative confirms the strength of the historic relations between both countries. He also hailed the Lebanese community in the UAE for its achievements within the country.
