The volume of trade exchange between the two countries increased in 2022 compared to 2021 by 38.9%, due to the increase in the value of the country’s imports by 130% from $239 million in 2021 to $550 million in 2022. The value of exports (exports - re-exports) also increased by 23%, from $1.4 billion in 2021 to $1.7 billion in 2022.
Total UAE Investment flows into Nigeria reached around $202 million between 2016 and 2020, whereas investment flows from Nigeria to the UAE reached around $52.2 million for the same period. Between 2003 and 2020, 23 UAE companies invested in Nigeria, while 8 Nigerian companies invested in the UAE for the same period. UAE’s investments in Nigeria targeted a variety of sectors, including coal, oil and gas, communications, chemicals renewable energy and textiles.
The strengthening of economic relations between the two countries has seen the embassy carry out many activities to promote investment and enhance economic ties between the two countries, such as:
