The United Arab Emirates has expressed its solidarity with the Republic of the Philippines following the two earthquakes that struck the southern part of the country, resulting in a number of deaths.
The United Arab Emirates, through the UAE Aid Agency, has dispatched urgent relief aid to approximately 40,000 families impacted by the earthquake that struck Cebu city, in the Philippines. The delivery of aid was overseen by the UAE Embassy in Manila, in coordination with the relevant local entities and authorities, to support efforts implemented by the Philippines government to address the repercussions of the disaster.
His Excellency Mohammed Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to the Philippines and Non-Resident Ambassador to Palau attended the Republic of Palau National Day celebrations in Ngerulmud, where he met with H.E. Surangel Whipps Jr. President of the Republic of Palau to reaffirm the UAE’s commitment to strengthening ties with Palau.
His Excellency Ferdinand Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, received a delegation from the Government of the United Arab Emirates, headed by H.E. Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Experience Exchange, during an official visit that underscored the deep relations between the two countries.
As part of the strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of the Philippines, the two governments organized the Government Experience Exchange Forum in Manila, attended by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos and a number of senior government officials. The forum aimed to explore mechanisms for accelerating national priorities and developing innovative solutions to advance sustainable development. The forum serves as a platform for exchanging government expertise and showcasing best practices in areas such as strategy and innovation, government excellence and performance, competitiveness and statistics, public services, artificial intelligence, and future foresight.
