His Excellency Matar Salem Al Dhaheri serves as the UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he has a key role in strengthening the strategic and fraternal partnership between the two brotherly countries, drawing on a distinguished career in diplomacy, defense and public administration.
His Excellency’s appointment to this prominent role marks the culmination of an accomplished career in senior leadership. His Excellency served as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence from 2016 to 2025. Prior to that, he was appointed Assistant Undersecretary for Policy and Strategic Affairs from 2015 to 2016. These senior leadership positions provided him with extensive expertise in policy and national security, enabling him to further enhance bilateral relations through a forward-looking strategic vision. Furthermore, His Excellency has held several senior leadership positions within the Armed Forces.
H.E. Matar Al Dhaheri holds a Master's degree in Political Development from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
