In preparation for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference 2026 UN Water Conference in the UAE, being held on Abu Dhabi this December, the UAE Embassy in Finland, in cooperation with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, convened a high-level discussion entitled, “Water for All: The Road to the UN Water Conference 2026”.

On Monday, 31st August 2026, the UAE Embassy in Helsinki, in cooperation with Emirates, organised a promotional event titled “Bridging Dubai and Helsinki with Emirates” at Solo Sokos Hotel Pier 4 in Helsinki, to celebrate the upcoming launch of Emirates’ new Dubai-Helsinki route.

Marking the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between the UAE and Finland, the Embassy in Helsinki launched its anniversary book “Shaping the Next 50 Years, Together” during the 54th UAE Union Day reception held in Helsinki.

The publication brings together five decades of shared history through people-to-people stories that have shaped and strengthened this partnership. The stories, ranging from archival discoveries to personal recollections, highlight the depth, diversity, and enduring character of the ties connecting both nations. The design of the book, inspired by the national birds of the UAE and Finland – the falcon and the whooper swan – combines the UAE and Finland’s ambition, strength, grace, and resilience, embodying a relationship grounded in dialogue, mutual respect, and a forward-looking spirit.

Call for Stories! This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Republic of Finland. Since 1975, invaluable connections have been forged at the level of our political leadership, companies and organizations, and especially at the level of our citizens.

To mark this special occasion, the UAE Embassy in Helsinki has launched a book project aimed at capturing the political, professional and personal stories that have shaped the bilateral relations between the UAE and Finland.
