Visa Information for UAE Citizens Traveling to Nigeria (2026)
The following are the official visa options and procedures for United Arab Emirates citizens applying for entry into Nigeria:
1. e-Visa (Recommended and Fastest Option)
Official portal: https://evisa.immigration.gov.ng/
- Suitable for short visits (tourism, business, conferences, or family visits).
- Validity: Typically 30 or 90 days (non-extendable in most cases).
Process:
- Create an online account on the e-visa portal.
- Complete the application form and select visa type.
- Upload required documents (valid passport with at least 6 months validity, photo, flight booking, accommodation details, bank statement, etc.).
- Pay the visa fee online.
- Receive the e-visa approval via email (usually within 48 hours).
Key Advantage: No need to visit the embassy; fully digital and fast processing.
2. Embassy / Consulate Application (Short Stay Visa)
Locations:
- Embassy of Nigeria in Abu Dhabi
- Consulate General of Nigeria in Dubai
Process:
- Register online via the Nigerian Immigration Portal (portal.immigration.gov.ng).
- Print completed application form and payment receipt.
- Book an appointment and visit the embassy/consulate if required.
- Submit documents and complete biometric capture (fingerprints and photo).
- Pay applicable fees and await approval.
When to use: For longer stays or visa categories not fully processed online (e.g., multiple entry or special permits).
3. Visa on Arrival (Limited Availability)
- Available only with prior written approval from Nigerian Immigration Authorities.
- Requires supporting documents such as approval letter, invitation letter, and proof of payment.
- Use is now limited following the introduction of the e-Visa system.
Note: Not recommended unless pre-approved due to possible delays at entry points.
4. Special and Long-Term Visas
Includes:
- Temporary Work Permit (TWP)
- Employment Visa (subject to expatriate quota approval)
- Student Visa
- Diplomatic, medical, humanitarian, and journalist visas
Application Process:

- Submission is done through embassy/consulate channels with supporting documentation.
General Requirements & Important Notes
- Passport must be valid for at least 6 months.
- Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is mandatory.
- Arrival Card must be completed online at least 72 hours before travel.
- Visa fees vary depending on type and duration.

Visa Application and Document Attestation Procedures for Nigerian Citizens
1. STEPS FOR APPLICATION OF TOURIST VISA
- Apply initial approval from any tourist company in United Arab Emirates, or apply through VFS office in Nigeria.
- After initial Approval, Apply for Clearance document verification number (DVN) from (verify.documentverificationhub.ae)
- Visit the UAE Visa Centre for Biometrics
- Payment of $69 biometric fee.
2. STEPS FOR ATTESTATION PROCESS.
- For Educational documents, Documents must be attested from Nigerian Ministry of Education and then Nigerian Ministry of Foreign affairs
- For other documents like commercial documents, End user Certificates, Documents must be attested by relevant authorities and then stamped by Nigerian Ministry of Foreign affairs
- For marriage Certificates, birth certificates and others, documents must be attested from Nigerian Ministry of Foreign affairs
- After attesting documents from relevant authorities, Payment should be done through MOFA website
- Documents are then submitted to VFS Nigeria for final submission to Embassy and Final Approval.
