His Excellency Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan participates in virtual Ministerial meeting of the African Union on the situation in Sudan

The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Djibouti and Chairperson of the Peace and Security Council. Participants at the meeting included His Excellency Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and His Excellency Bankole Adeoye, African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security.
During the meeting, HE Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan reiterated that the UAE remains unwavering in its position of calling for an immediate cease-fire as a priority and the need to facilitate a peaceful solution to the crisis between the relevant parties.
The UAE continues to underscore the importance of supporting the political process and efforts to achieve a national consensus towards forming a government to enhance the security and stability of Sudan and to meet the aspirations of its people for development and prosperity.
His Excellency said: “The UAE has undertaken significant efforts to alleviate the severity of the challenging humanitarian conditions in Sudan, including the allocation of USD 50 million in aid to the Sudanese people, and establishing air and sea bridges to facilitate the transportation of medical, food, and relief supplies.
H.E. stated that the UAE has constructed a field hospital in the Republic of Chad which is part of the UAE’s endeavors to provide humanitarian relief, and medical support to the effected Sudanese people in light of the ongoing conditions, and to support Chad, by mitigating the repercussions of the current humanitarian situation as a result of the influx of Sudanese refugees.
