H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed heads co-ordination meeting of National Emergency Team.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, today headed the co-ordination meeting of a team from the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, to manage second-level national emergencies to evacuate the nation’s citizens and nationals from countries affected by cases of emergencies, crises, and disasters.
The meeting, which was attended by team members from relevant ministries and authorities at the headquarters of the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority in Abu Dhabi, discussed the team’s work mechanism and its levels of leadership and control when managing national emergencies, as well as the stages and mechanism of managing emergencies, the national response system, the mechanism for activating national plans, and the roles and responsibilities of related authorities in providing support during the evacuation of the country’s nationals from abroad.
The UAE Emergency and Crisis System includes second-level emergency teams, formed by H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, who will work to manage emergencies, crises and disasters both in and out of the country according to the expected risk. H.H. Sheikh Tahnoun will also head the first-level National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster team.
The National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority comes under the umbrella of the Supreme Council for National Security and aims to achieve the country’s policy on the necessary procedures for managing emergencies, crises and disasters. The authority is considered as the main national authority responsible for co-ordinating and setting standards, systems and regulations that relate to managing emergencies, crises and disasters, and for placing a unified national plan to respond to any emergency.
