
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan on Wednesday.
Dr. Balakrishnan is in Abu Dhabi to participate in the UAE-Singapore Joint Ministerial Committee.
The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the UAE and Singapore as well as the way towards enhancing those relations in several areas, particularly economic, trade, defence, and renewable energy fields. Both H.H. Sheikh Abdullah and Dr. Balakrishnan stressed their respective countries’ keenness to boost mutual co-operation between them.
They hailed the second meeting and its output, held in Abu Dhabi on 7th and 8th March. They also reviewed issues of mutual interest and the latest developments regionally and globally.
Sheikh Abdullah and Dr. Balakrishnan also emphasised the importance of improving efforts and co-operation in fighting all forms of terrorism and extremism. The Singaporean minister praised the UAE's cultural boom at the regional and international levels.
Mohammed Omar Abdullah Belfaqeeh, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore, Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, Assistant Minister of Foreign and International Cooperation for Political Affairs and Mohammed Sharaf Al Hashemi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Economic and Commercial Affairs attended the meeting.
