UAE takes part as Observer in International Criminal Court's 14th session of Assembly of States Parties in The Hague

H.E. Dr. Abdul Rahim Yousef Al Awadi, Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs, has headed the UAE delegation as an observer to the International Criminal Court's (ICC)14th session of the Assembly of States Parties in The Hague, The Netherlands, from 18th to 26th November 2015.

The meeting agenda includes a number of important topics, notably, the amendments to the Rome Statute of the ICC. The teamwork has been set up to discuss the amendments under the chairmanship of Norway. 

The team will also tackle the procedural and evidence rules. The session will also discuss issues pertaining to the principles of cooperation and complementarity, as well as court review reports, trust fund activities for the victims, the election of members of the Fund and the nominations of judges of the Court.

The opening session observed a minute silence to mourn for the victims of the attacks that took place in Paris and a number of countries in the world.

The President of the Assembly of States Parties, President of the ICC and the Prosecutor of the ICC addressed the opening session.

The UAE is a signatory to the Rome Statute of the Court.

The UAE delegation included Abdullah Hamdan Al Naqbi, UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Salem Ibrahim Al Naqbi, Director of office of Assistant Foreign Minister for Legal Affairs and Adel Al Amiri, of the UAE Embassy in The Hague.
