Explore São Paulo: A Metropolis of Diversity and Culture

São Paulo is one of the world's largest cities and the biggest in South America. Built by generations of immigrants from every continent, it is a city of fascinating contrasts, where modern skyscrapers stand alongside historic neighbourhoods, and fine dining shares the street with traditional markets. For those visiting Brazil through the UAE Consulate General, São Paulo is also the natural starting point for discovering the country.

What to Visit:

Ibirapuera Park

The green heart of the city. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer and Roberto Burle Marx and opened in 1954, the park is home to museums, a planetarium, lakes, and vast areas for walking and leisure. It is São Paulo's most beloved landmark.

MASP — São Paulo Museum of Art

One of the most important museums in Latin America, with over 8,000 works spanning from the 4th century BC to contemporary art. Its iconic architecture, suspended above Avenida Paulista, is one of the city's defining images.

Pinacoteca do Estado

São Paulo's oldest visual arts museum, set within the Parque da Luz. Its collection traces the evolution of Brazilian art from the 19th century to the present day.

Football Museum

Located in the historic Pacaembu Stadium, this museum explores the deep relationship between football, culture, and Brazilian identity.

Museum of Immigration

A tribute to the communities that built São Paulo: Italians, Japanese, Lebanese, Syrians, Spanish, and many others. A particularly meaningful visit for UAE citizens, a country equally shaped by diversity.

Mercado Municipal (Mercadão)

A must-visit gastronomic landmark, famous for its mortadella sandwich and the full range of Brazilian regional products.

Municipal Theatre

Opened in 1911, one of the city's great architectural landmarks, with regular seasons of opera, ballet, and international concerts.

Gastronomy

São Paulo is considered one of the world's great gastronomic capitals. The culinary heritage of its immigrant communities has created an unmatched food scene, featuring restaurants of every nationality, award-winning steakhouses, pizzerias (the city has the largest Italian community outside Italy), artisan bakeries, and a thriving fine dining scene. Arab and Middle Eastern restaurants are also found throughout the city, particularly in the Liberdade neighbourhood and along the Avenida Paulista area, reflecting the significant Lebanese and Syrian presence in Brazil.
